The Dark Side of Peter Pan: J.M. Barrie, the Man Who Couldn't Grow Up by Olivia Camozzi – A Book Recommendation for January

The Dark Side of Peter Pan by Olivia Camozzi

The Dark Side of Peter Pan: J.M. Barrie, The Man Who Couldn't Grow Up, by Olivia Camozzi

Today, we bring you news of a new book called The Dark Side of Peter Pan: J.M. Barrie, The Man Who Couldn't Grow Up, by Olivia Camozzi, published in October 2024.

There is an insatiable appetite for books about J.M. Barrie and Peter Pan.   So much has been written since the beginning of the 20th century when the play was first performed on the London Stage and a little later when the book Peter and Wendy was published.

With many more recent claims suggesting that Barrie was manipulative and perverted, this book redresses the balance.  It suggests that he was, in fact, asexual and suffered from Peter Pan Syndrome, so he was as unable to grow up as his character, Peter Pan.

The book is packed with information, particularly about the tragic life of Sylvia and Arthur Llewelyn Davies and their five boys, George, Jack, Peter, Michael and Nico, about whom the story of Peter Pan was written.  The five boys were, of course, Daphne du Maurier's cousins.
