Daphne du Maurier: Sex and Death the Italian Way – An Illustrated Talk with Sue Zlosnick
Sue Zlosnick Daphne du Maurier
Sue Zlosnik, Emeritus Professor of English at Manchester Metropolitan University, has held an international reputation as a Daphne du Maurier scholar for many years. In 1998 she published Daphne du Maurier: Writing, Identity and the Gothic Imagination, a major work, in collaboration with du Maurier scholar Professor Avril Horner of Kingston University. Since then, she has written further articles and has given presentations at conferences and literary festivals, both as solo pieces and with Avril.
On Friday, 3rd September 2021, Sue will be presenting Daphne du Maurier: Sex and Death the Italian Way at the Weaver Words 2021 Literary Festival. She will be considering du Maurier’s short stories set in Italy, such as Don’t Look Now, and two novels that feature Italy – My Cousin Rachel and The Flight of the Falcon. This illustrated talk will show a less familiar and sometimes shocking du Maurier.
