Daphne du Maurier Society of North America – Dinner and a Movie Night
The Daphne du Maurier Society of North America are having a Dinner and a Movie night on Saturday, November 20th 2021, 6 pm – 8.30 pm. The movie, on this occasion, will be Don’t Look Now, the excellent adaptation of, what is possibly, Daphne du Maurier’s most terrifying short story, directed by Nicholas Roeg and starring Julie Christie and Donald Southerland.
Don’t Look Now is considered to be one of the best thrillers ever made. It also contains one of the earliest graphic sex scenes in cinema, something that was very controversial at the time and is not in the original short story.
Italian food and desserts will be served to echo the location of Venice in the movie. Shirley Kinney, University of Toronto, will lead the discussion following the film. The movie will be outdoors, so attendees should bring a sweater!
All of us on this side of the pond wish you a fabulous evening.
