A day-by-day look at the events taking place at Fowey Festival – Tuesday 14th May

Today, Megan Stallworthy will be running her Handmade Book Workshop from 10am – 4pm in Fowey Parish Hall.

Nicola Upson

Nicola Upson

Nicola Upson will be talking about the most recent book in her series of Josephine Tey Mysteries at 2pm in Fowey Town Hall.  This title is Shot With Crimson, and the novel is set in the autumn of 1939, with a background of the early days of WW2.  The story takes place in Hollywood, where Alfred Hitchcock is directing his new film, Rebecca, while back in the UK, a mystery is building at Milton, the house that Daphne visited as a child during WW1.  This talk is a must for Daphne du Maurier fans, as well as all of you who enjoy Nicola's Josephine Tey mysteries.

Also today, Galen Bartholomew presents his talk, The SS Suevic and the Night the RNLI Saved 611 Lives.  Then Truro Senior School Musicians present the Lunchtime Recital.  Later, Dr Helen Doe presents her talk, From the Battle of Britain to the Great Escape.  Music biographer Leslie-Ann Jones talks about her new book Fly Away Paul, about Paul McCartney and his time with Wings.  At 8pm, in Fowey Parish Church, you are in for an absolute treat, as Johnny Cowling entertains you all with his own wonderful brand of comedy.

This year, we are delighted to say that the Fowey Festival of Arts and Literature has a physical programme again, something that has been missing for the last couple of years and is now back by popular request.  You will be able to pick up a copy of the programme at The Royal Fowey Yacht Club, Fowey Parish Church, Fowey Town Hall, and some of the shops in the town.  You can also see the brochure and download it at the Fowey Festival website home page (scroll down the page to - Download the 2024 programme) https://www.foweyfestival.com

Please look at your programme for more details.
