A day-by-day look at the events taking place at Fowey Festival – Thursday 16th May

Serena Trowbridge

Dr Serena Trowbridge

This morning begins bright and early with the first of Serena Trowbridge's two reading groups.  Today's book is Daphne du Maurier's beautiful, and dare I say, romantic novel, Frenchman's Creek.  This event takes place at 9am in Fowey Parish Hall.

Later in the day, at 2pm, in Fowey Towns Hall, Serena presents her talk – Villainesses, Femmes Fatales, Matriarchs and Muses: Daphne du Maurier's Heroines.  In this talk, she will discuss the strong, difficult, interesting, and dangerous women in Daphne's writing, all those heroines that mean so much to all of us who love Daphne's books.

Also, today, enjoy Lemn Sissay OBE at 4pm in Fowey Parish Church; Kate Strasdin and her talk, The Dress Diary of Mrs Anne Sykes at 6pm in Fowey Town Hall, and The Loveny Male Voice Choir at 8pm in Fowey Parish Church.

This year, we are delighted to say that the Fowey Festival of Arts and Literature has a physical programme again, something that has been missing for the last couple of years and is now back by popular request.  You will be able to pick up a copy of the programme at The Royal Fowey Yacht Club, Fowey Parish Church, Fowey Town Hall, and some of the shops in the town.  You can also see the brochure and download it at the Fowey Festival website home page (scroll down the page to - Download the 2024 programme) https://www.foweyfestival.com/

Please look at your programme for more details.
