The House on the Strand is to be broadcast on Radio 4 Extra on 10th July 2024
Radio 4 Extra will be broadcasting one of its Hidden Treasures on Wednesday, 10th July 2024. They have chosen The House on the Strand by Daphne du Maurier, and it will be broadcast at 2.30pm and again at 8.30pm.
‘Whatever you say, I’ve been in that other world, seen it, known it. It was cruel, hard and very often bloody. But, my God, it held a fascination for me which is lacking in my own world of today’. Science professor Magnus persuades his old Cambridge friend Dick to try out a new, mind-altering drug. Dick’s fascination with what he sees becomes a dangerous obsession.

The programme runs for one and a half hours.
It was first broadcast in November 1973 and stars Ian Richardson as Dick.
