A Series of Reviews Looking at Daphne du Maurier Books – written by Eva Leung – The Parasites
8). The Parasites
The UK first edition, hardback of The Parasites by Daphne du Maurier
Eva Leung is currently writing a series of reviews of many of Daphne du Maurier’s books. She is an academic working as a senior lecturer at HKU SPACE Po Leung Kuk Stanley Ho Community College. She received her PhD in English from the University of Hong Kong, and her doctoral research is on the novels by Daphne du Maurier, with a particular focus on narratology and the relationship between the Tale and the Reader.
Eva feels that Daphne du Maurier's works as modern classics should be more popular, and she tries to promote her other brilliant works that can get overshadowed by Rebecca. She has pitched her reviews to non-academics by writing them for people who may not have read her works before and by keeping them short and simple.
Outside of academia, she is a freelance harpist playing for a variety of events, including weddings, funerals/memorials, company events, birthday banquets, retirement parties, and other music projects.
In Eva's eighth review, she discusses Daphne du Maurier's novel – The Parasites.
