In June 2019, to mark 30 years from the death of Daphne du Maurier, an international conference took place in Le Mans, France.  Daphne du Maurier: A Critical Reassessment - An International Interdisciplinary Conference was organised by du Maurier authorities, Xavier Lachaise and Anne Hall, and Nicole Cloarec.  A number of du Maurier experts spoke on a range of subjects relating to the life and works of  Daphne du Maurier.  Two of them, Setara Pracha and Eva Leung, have written for the Daphne du Maurier website as well.  In 2023, Eva Leung generously agreed to us including her paper from the conference, The Beginning of the End: the Prologue and Epilogues of 'Hungry Hill' and 'The Glass-Blowers', on the Daphne du Maurier website https://www.dumaurier.org/menu_page.php?id=224.

Recently, Eva, who is currently a College Senior Lecturer at HKU SPACE Po Leung Kuk Stanley Ho Community College, Hong Kong, has been working on some reviews of Daphne du Maurier's books, pitching them at non-academics by writing them for people who may not have read her works before and by keeping them short and simple.  Eve feels that Daphne du Maurier's works as modern classics should be more popular, and she tries to promote her other brilliant works that can get overshadowed by Rebecca.

Today, we bring you Eva's tenth review, which discusses Daphne du Maurier's fictionalised biography, Mary Anne.
