London Library event – Live in the Archive: The Haunting of Daphne du Maurier – This evening, Wednesday 30th October 2024

The London Library, venue of this evenings event - Live in the Archive: The Haunting of Daphne du Maurier

Live in the Archive is a new collaboration between the London Library and Curtis Brown Heritage.  It aims to celebrate some of the greatest literary stars in their combined history, former library members and agency clients.

As Halloween approaches, where better to begin than with one of their brightest stars, who wrote some of the darkest tales – Daphne du Maurier.
An illustrious panel of authors, Jessie Burton, Camilla Grudova and Andrew Michael Hurley, all fans of Daphne du Maurier and writers of spooky fiction, will join broadcaster, journalist and critic Bidisha to present Live in the Archive: The Haunting of Daphne du Maurier.  They will discuss du Maurier’s extraordinary body of fiction as they delve into the dark heart of her work, focusing on her most sinister spaces and menacing landscapes, psychological hauntings, ghosts, secrets, danger and the uncanny and unexpected, all wielded to devastating narrative effect.  The panel will discuss fictional hauntings, gothic sensibility, and Daphne du Maurier’s influence on their own writing and storytelling as they celebrate the work and legacy of this literary icon.

We can think of no better way to celebrate Halloween.
