During her lifetime Daphne du Maurer wrote at least 50 short stories that we know about, many of which have been published in various collections. Yet, most of them are still very overlooked compared to Daphne’s novels. Setara’s new book will bring you a unique insight into Daphne’s writing of short fiction and is sure to encourage you to want to read more.
In 2016 Setara Pracha was one of the very first people to write an article for our newly revamped Daphne du Maurier website. Her article, Daphne du Maurier and the Anti-Romantic Short Story, reviewed two of Daphne du Maurier’s earliest short stories to stir discussion among new readers and those already familiar with Daphne’s short stories. Setara, a lecturer in English Literature and Language at the University of Buckingham, was eminently suited to writing that 2016 article because she had just completed four years of research into the short fiction of Daphne du Maurier, for her doctoral thesis, A Pathology of Desire: The Dismembered Self in Daphne du Maurier’s Short Stories.
