Daphne du Maurier Short Story Inspires Fashion Collection
Fashion designers Thea Bregazzi and Justin Thornton, creators of the fashion label Preen by Thornton Bregazzi, have taken inspiration from Daphne du Maurier short story Don’t Look Now, and its famous film adaptation of the same name directed by Nicholas Roeg.
In the film of Daphne’s short story Laura and John, played by Julie Christie and Donald Southerland, travel to Venice soon after the death of their young daughter, and while there they meet a psychic who claims to be in touch with the child. From this beginning, a terrifying plot ensues.
Taking the darkly romantic waterways of Venice, mainly as seen in the film, and making direct reference to the clothes worn in the movie – Laura’s tweed suits the red vinyl - Preen by Thornton Bregazzi has launched its Autumn/Winter 2020 collection.
