Fowey Festival presents its 2021 series of online talks

On Wednesday 10th February at 7.30pm, Helen Doe, maritime historian, author, and popular speaker at many of our festivals will be opening the 2021 series with her talk - ISAMBARD BRUNEL AND THE SS GREAT BRITAIN MUSEUM

SS Great Britain Trust holds the world-class collection of artefacts and archival material on Isambard Kingdom Brunel.  Brunel was one of the greatest and most innovative engineers of the 19th century.  His projects ranged from railways, bridges, tunnels, and ships. All were pioneering projects, and some were more successful than others. This talk looks at the work of Brunel and shows items from the new exhibition, Being Brunel, now in Bristol.

Helen is a longstanding trustee of the museum.  Her most recent book SS Great Britain: Brunel’s Ship, Her Voyages, Passengers and Crew, features the passengers and crew of the SS Great Britain on its world journeys.

She is a government advisor to the National Historic Ships and Fellow of the Royal Historical Society.

This is going to be a fascinating talk, and an excellent opportunity to see fellow festival-goers.

Tickets for this event are £10.00 per household
